Aglow began in 1967 with four women who desired to meet as Christians without denominational boundaries. The first general meeting was held in Seattle, Washington, USA, close to where Aglow’s Worldwide Headquarters exists today.

The meeting drew more than 100 women to the Meany Hotel close to the University of Washington campus. It didn’t take long for women who attended that first meeting to invite their neighbors and friends to gatherings in other communities surrounding Seattle. As the word spread, new groups began springing up around Washington State, and within months, groups formed in other U.S. states.

Before He said, “Let there be light,” in the heart of God, there was a movement called Aglow International. It would originate with an unprecedented move among women but ultimately encompass men. From a small beginning, God breathed on Aglow throughout five decades to impact lives in over 170 nations. Aglow was Spirit-born and Spirit-led for over 50 years.

Jane Hansen Hoyt serves as President/CEO of Aglow International, a Kingdom community of over 200,000 warriors, champions, and global leaders who touch 17 million people annually.

Jane is passionate about seeing women and men walk together to advance God’s Kingdom. Her heart is to see all people empowered to reach their God-given potential and fulfill His purposes for their lives. Jane has said, My great hope is the certainty that God is building a strong and mighty, vibrant and victorious Church on earth – one that is destined to shine as a beacon of light through days of darkness and deception, one that displays the excellence of the King of kings and gives honor to the Lord of lords.

Under her apostolic leadership, Aglow was founded in 170 nations. Aglow’s ultimate goal is to see every nation touched and every heart changed through encounters that restore people to a radiant relationship with God and one another.
